Prepare Those Windows for Winter!
Truth be told we’re asked this question quite a bit:
What do I do with my window screens and screen doors during the colder months?
This is a great question! Obviously, we don’t have use for screens during the fall and winter months in Indiana but do we keep them in the windows and doors or do we gently remove them? Our friends at Marvin Windows have the perfect answer for us!
Cleaning Screens
Cleaning the screens on your Marvin windows and doors is best done by removing the screens altogether, laying them on a flat clean area, like a sidewalk, and spraying off any dust with water from your garden hose.
Allow the screens to completely air dry before replacing them in the window or door.
If you live in a cold climate, it is recommended that you remove exterior window screens and screen doors during the winter. The mesh may collect snow and ice, causing the screen to sag.
Always work from the exterior of the door when removing and replacing door screens.
If the weather has yet to turn where you live, don’t hesitate to take some time to remove the screens from your windows and doors. Taking out your screens can save you money in the long run! Who wants saggy screens, anyway?
